Oregon's largest in-state river runs north through the heart of the Willamette Valley from Eugene to its confluence with the Columbia at Portland. It is famous for its spring Chinook salmon run, summer steelhead, and a strong warmwater fishery for smallmouth bass and white sturgeon, especially in the Newberg Pool and around Willamette Falls at Oregon City.
