River spanning Hood River/Wasco/Multnomah counties, Oregon. The lower Columbia River forms Oregon's northern border and is one of the West Coast's premier anadromous fisheries. Spring and fall Chinook salmon, summer and fall coho, and winter and summer steelhead run upriver in huge numbers, while the John Day and The Dalles pools hold trophy walleye, smallmouth bass, and giant white sturgeon. Bank and boat access is excellent from the Columbia River Gorge upstream of Portland.
