Lower Deschutes River, OR

River spanning Wasco/Sherman/Jefferson counties, Oregon. A blue-ribbon tailwater and one of the West's most celebrated trout and steelhead rivers, the lower Deschutes flows north through a high-desert canyon to the Columbia near Biggs. It is renowned for hard-fighting native redband (rainbow) trout, a strong summer steelhead run, and a famous salmonfly hatch in late spring. Cold, stable flows out of the Pelton-Round Butte complex keep water temperatures fish-friendly.
