Apache Lake, AZ

Reservoir in Maricopa County, Arizona. A roughly 2,600-acre reservoir on the Salt River between Roosevelt and Canyon lakes, impounded by Horse Mesa Dam in a steep canyon along the Apache Trail. Quieter and less crowded than its neighbors, it produces quality largemouth and smallmouth bass, walleye, channel and flathead catfish, crappie, sunfish, and stocked rainbow trout in the cooler tailwater reaches. Mid-elevation desert canyon reservoir (about 1,900 ft).
