Ship Creek, AK

River in Anchorage County, Alaska. An urban salmon stream running through downtown Anchorage and emptying into Knik Arm of Cook Inlet, famous as one of the most accessible salmon fisheries in the world: anglers fish within sight of downtown high-rises. Supports hatchery-enhanced runs of Chinook (king) salmon in early summer and coho (silver) salmon in late summer, drawing dense crowds during the king derby. The lower creek is heavily tidal-influenced with notorious glacial mudflats. A beloved introduction to Alaska salmon fishing for locals and visitors without a boat.
