Kenai River, AK
River in Kenai Peninsula Borough County, Alaska. Alaska's most famous and heavily fished river, a glacial, turquoise-blue system flowing roughly 82 miles from Kenai Lake through the Kenai Peninsula to Cook Inlet at the towns of Soldotna and Kenai. World-renowned for enormous Chinook (king) salmon, massive runs of sockeye (red) salmon, coho, and pinks, plus trophy rainbow trout and Dolly Varden in the upper and middle river. The middle and upper river hold the resident trout fishery while the lower river near Soldotna is the salmon corridor. It is the single most productive sport fishery in the state and the economic backbone of the central Kenai Peninsula.
