Point Judith Pond, RI

Estuary in Washington County, Rhode Island. A tidal salt pond and estuary in Narragansett and South Kingstown, connected to the ocean through the Point Judith Breachway. It is one of Rhode Island's most productive inshore fisheries, holding striped bass that winter over, summer flounder (fluke), scup, tautog, bluefish, and the prized fall run of false albacore and bonito near the breachway. The Galilee commercial port sits at its mouth. Tidal flow through the breachway concentrates baitfish and gamefish on the moving water.
