Reservoir in Gunnison County, Colorado. Colorado's largest body of water, a roughly 9,000-acre reservoir on the Gunnison River within Curecanti National Recreation Area. It is the state's premier kokanee salmon fishery and holds the bulk of Colorado's lake trout, including trophy mackinaw. Rainbow and brown trout round out the fishery. The deep, cold water keeps salmon and lake trout active through summer; spring and fall are best for shallow trout. Elevation roughly 7,500 ft.
