Cheat Lake, WV
Reservoir in Monongalia County, West Virginia. A roughly 1,730-acre, 13-mile-long reservoir on the Cheat River in Monongalia County just east of Morgantown, impounded by Lake Lynn Dam. Once heavily damaged by acid mine drainage, it has rebounded into one of northern West Virginia's best fisheries for largemouth and smallmouth bass, walleye, channel catfish, crappie, bluegill, and northern pike, with occasional musky. Its proximity to Morgantown and WVU makes it a heavily fished, easily accessed water. Steep, wooded shorelines and submerged structure hold fish year-round.
