Lake in Orleans County, Vermont. A deep, cold international lake straddling the Vermont-Quebec border at Newport in the Northeast Kingdom. The Vermont end holds landlocked Atlantic salmon, lake trout, rainbow trout (including steelhead-strain), smallmouth and largemouth bass, northern pike, chain pickerel, walleye, yellow perch, and panfish. Salmon and steelhead run the Clyde, Barton, and Black river tributaries in spring and fall. A classic open-water troll fishery in summer and a strong ice fishery in winter.
