Reservoir in Clarendon County, South Carolina. At 110,600 acres, Lake Marion is the larger of the two Santee Cooper lakes and South Carolina's marquee freshwater fishery. World famous for trophy catfish (the state-record blue topped 113 pounds) and seasonal surface-schooling striped bass, it also holds largemouth, crappie, and bream. Created 1939-1942 by the Santee Dam for hydroelectric power.
