Wahiawa Reservoir (Lake Wilson), HI
Reservoir in Honolulu County, Hawaii. Wahiawa Reservoir, known locally as Lake Wilson, is a roughly 400-acre freshwater impoundment in central Oahu and the best-known public freshwater fishery in Hawaii. It is famous for hard-fighting peacock bass (tucunare), introduced in the 1950s, alongside largemouth bass, bluegill, channel catfish, and tilapia. The Wahiawa Public Fishing Area offers a boat launch and shoreline access at the Wahiawa Freshwater State Recreation Area, and bass and tucunare are catch-and-release only there. Anglers need a Hawaii Freshwater Game Fishing License plus a free entry permit. April through October produces the most consistent action.
